RV Necessities

With less then 3 weeks until the trip, the three of us find ourselves having plenty of conversations about what we need to bring- especially the question of what we need to mail to California instead of take on the plane. Here are some of the things I've been thinking about mailing to my dear friend Cindy who I get to visit on the front end of this trip:

  • pillows that are mine, not rented- definitely
  • big fork things for roasting marshmellows- definitely- they are not welcome on a plane
  • a blanket- huh... not sure.... hot desert, air conditioned rv.... hmmmmm
  • books.... ooof- what I think I will read vs what I actually might read vs how heavy this box should get
  • colored note cards, sticky tac stuff, and a sharpy for quotable quotes on the trip- don't worry- we'll post them! :)
  • water bottle- again- desert- duh!
  • travel coffee mug- yup this is soooo not an option

Wonder what I will take that I won't need at all. Wonder what I will forget. Wonder how the disciples went out with only their staff. :)

The excitement is building.....

First, dating the entry the way Europeans do just makes it seem more continental, doesn't it?

Here's what I've discovered while researching RV locations on my portion of the trip:
  • My criteria is fairly simple: immediately exclude anything listed as "primitive"
  • Googling "luxury" or "premier" parks garners immediate successful results. Why look any further?
  • The Grand Canyon seems to be a big honkin' place. Further research required.
  • Kristi gets to speak with cool people who say "y'all" at Loretta Lynn's RV Park in Nashville. I've spoken with no one that has a cool accent. Sigh.
  • Nic and Kristi suggest having a "primitive" overnight, requiring (I'm sure) the lighting of fire by rubbing sticks together and the cooking of raw meat by shoving it on another stick (that they will have plucked up from the ground, no doubt). I'm absolutely sure this reservation will NOT be made on my 1/3 of the trip planning. (See criteria above)

*As an aside, a strange phenomenon seems to be happening. Every time we go shopping, at least one of us will pick up some fun dress or t-shirt or whatnot and exclaim, "I must get this "for the RV"". Who knew RVing would require such attention to fashion?
