Day 2:
Perhaps a quick recap is in order. We picked up the RV from L.A. and headed east with me behind the wheel. L.A. traffic is a great way to learn the ropes in an unfamiliar vehicle. Try it. You'll like it.
After a quick Target run of just under 2 hours (what?! It was a SUPERTarget!), we headed north to Sin City. Climbed over 5000 feet then dropped that much into the valley of lights. By the time we arrived at midnight, I was fried. I tried, really tried, to muster up the energy to head to the strip, but I didn't have it in me. I made the beds then went to bed...surprisingly easy to hop up into the cavernous overhead bed, btw. Getting down is a different issue. I've got massive bruises on my thigh because of it. I'm going to concoct some awesom story along the way to explain them....maybe a wild jackalope story?
So, now it's Day 2, and the highlights are as follows: worked some of the strip, won $60 at The Mirage, rode over the Hoover Dam (there was this little incident with Homeland Security and a crazy driver that backed into us, but I'll let Kristi explain that one...), then rode through the desert to Williams, AZ.
Oddly enough, hooking up the RV has been deceptively easy. At least, the way we hook it up has been easy. Considering nothing has been leaking, spurting, groaning or gurgling at us, we consider this a rousing success. There's deep consideration going on right now about when to make the final run to the bathroom and wash faces, etc. There's also the windows open vs. AC debate, although it's blissfully cool here after a sweltering day. There's also debate over sunrise at the canyon (thereby requiring us to leave at 4 a.m. ish) or some other plan. We'll keep ya' posted.
