....and land of mosquitos the size of small VWs.....and heat, lots of hot, hot heat in the air. This is only a brief stopover as we push our way through the center of the country. The next stop of any consequence that we'll make is in Memphis, but there are miles (and a few states) to go - and a tree! - before we get there. After arriving too late for Nicole's steak last night (darn that time change! It's gotten us a couple of times now), we discovered that the same hotel/restaurant that serves the 72 oz. steak for dinner also lays out quite the spread for breakfast. For pastors who never get to go to Sunday brunches or buffets, the allure is too great to resist. We're on our way there as soon as we brave the elements of nature in order to unhook our rig. Our plan is to saddle on our feedbags, then, on completely full stomachs, drive through Texas and Oklahoma to Fort Smith, Arkansas. I know, I know. It might not be a good plan, but we're mid-trip and we're throwing caution to the wind!
*Sidenote: Some strange phenomenon is happening here in Texas, Land of the Big. Apparently, a true Texan's hair grows bigger in proportion to the amount of time one spends on Texas soil. My hair, never what anyone would call thin and stringy, has taken on a life of its own. It's huge and untameable today. Let me just call it like it is. Subsequently, any pictures that result from this day's escapades shall result in no negative comments about my big hair (that I've rustled back with hair clips AND a hair band.) Can we all agree on that? :)
Yeehaw, pahd-ners, Katrina
